KLE Academy of Higher Education and Research (KAHER), Institute of Nursing Sciences, Nehru Nagar, Belagavi in collaboration with Overseas Nurses of India organized an International Conference on “Is our Nursing Practice Evidence-Based? A Review of Essential Skills in Healthcare & Nursing” on 23rd & 24th November 2018 at KLE Centenary Convention Centre, Belagavi.

Shri. D K Shivakumar, Hon’ble Minister of Major & Medium Irrigation and Medical Education, Govt. of Karnataka was the Chief Guest for the conference. Dr. Shalini Rajneesh, I.A.S., Principal Secretary to Govt. Primary and Secondary Education & Shri. T. Dileep Kumar, Hon’ble President, Indian Nursing Council were the Guests of Honor.

Royal College of Nursing (RCN) Chairman Ms. Janet Davies delivered the keynote address. Other Guest of Honors were Dr. Vivek A Saoji, Vice Chancellor, KLE Academy of Higher Education and Research, Belagavi, Ms. Janice Smyth, RCN Chief Executive, Northern Ireland, Mrs. Jayne Needham, Lecturer in Midwifery, School of Health Sciences, University of East Anglia, Norwich, UK, Dr. Amy Szajna, Asst. Professor, Thomas Jefferson University, USA. Dr. Sudha A Raddi, Dean, Faculty of Nursing, KAHER, INS, Belagavi and Mr. Thippeswamy Billahalli, Lead Nurse- Allergy & Clinical Immunology Services, Dept. of Respiratory Medicine, Homerton University Hospital, NHS Trust, London. Around 900 delegates across India and abroad registered for the conference.

The main objective of the conference is to launch National Early Warning Score (an objective tool for identifying and finding a patient at risk based on scores) and SBAR (Situation, Background, Assessment & Recommendation) as a standard tool to practice in health care across the country. The Conference addressed key topics judged essential for the delivery of best nursing practice in the 21st century. Guest speakers from a wide range of nursing and other health professional backgrounds participated.
