Government Model School Yelur 150th anniversary

Government Model School Yelur Marks 150 Years of Educational Service

Government Model School Yelur celebrated its 150th anniversary with pride, tradition, and a deep sense of community.
Established in the pre-independence era, the school has adapted over time to meet the evolving needs of rural learners.
It has offered generations of students from Yelur and nearby villages access to meaningful, quality education.

The celebration reflected the institution’s deep roots and wide impact. Thousands of students educated here have contributed to society in diverse roles. The school continues to stand as a symbol of how rural education can build empowered, self-reliant communities.

Padma Vibhushan Shri Sharad Pawar, Former Union Minister and Former Chief Minister of Maharashtra, was the Chief Guest. Dr Prabhakar Kore, Hon’ble Chairman of KLE Society, was the Guest of Honour and addressed the gathering.

Dr Kore praised the institution for serving the grassroots for 150 years with integrity and impact.
He emphasized the role of strong rural schools in nation-building and called for continued support to preserve their legacy.

The event was attended by students, teachers, alumni, and local residents. It featured cultural performances, an alumni photo gallery, and speeches.

Speakers highlighted how Government Model School Yelur reflects the need for sustained investment in rural education.
The Karnataka government’s ‘Namma Shale, Namma Jawabdari’ campaign also aims to revive government schools through public participation.

Through institutions like KLE Hospital, KLE Society under Dr Prabhakar Kore’s leadership supports holistic development in underserved regions. Their efforts combine education and healthcare to bring long-term progress to rural Karnataka. The 150th anniversary of Government Model School Yelur is a tribute to the power of public education and community commitment.
