
15th Convocation of KAHER, Belagavi — June 3, 2025
Dr Prabhakar Kore presided over the 15th Convocation of KAHER—KLE Academy of Higher Education and Research, Deemed-to-be-University—held on June 3, 2025, at the KLE Centenary Convention Centre, Belagavi. This event marked a significant milestone in KLE Society’s ongoing pursuit of excellence in health sciences education and research.
Shri Jagat P. Nadda, Hon. Minister for Health and Family Welfare, delivered the Convocation Address. He underscored the government’s proactive commitment to holistic healthcare, which includes preventive, palliative, and rehabilitative services. He also pointed out the impressive progress in medical education over the past decade, citing a substantial rise in both undergraduate and postgraduate seats. Furthermore, he encouraged graduates to embrace lifelong learning and promote interdisciplinary collaboration between medicine and technology.
In addition, Shri Pralhad Joshi, Hon. Minister of Consumer Affairs and Renewable Energy, joined us as Guest of Honour. He praised the university for delivering quality education and accessible healthcare, particularly in North Karnataka. He also emphasized India’s expanding role in supplying skilled healthcare professionals to the global workforce.
During the ceremony, Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Nitin M. Gangane, presented the university’s annual report for 2024–25. He showcased KAHER’s remarkable national and international achievements within just two decades. Notably, the report included the launch of the Jagadguru Gangadhara Mahaswamigalu Moorusavirath Medical College in Hubballi and the opening of a state-of-the-art 200-bed cancer hospital in Belagavi.
Degrees and Recognitions
KAHER conferred the Honorary Doctor of Science degree on Prof. Dr. Shailesh V. Shrikhande in recognition of his outstanding contributions to surgical oncology. His lifelong dedication to learning and compassionate care reflects the core values upheld by the university.
This year, KAHER awarded 1,844 degrees across diverse health science disciplines, including 40 Ph.Ds and 660 postgraduate qualifications. Moreover, thirty-five students earned 46 Gold Medals for their exceptional academic performance.
Dr Kore remarked the presiding over this convocation was truly an honor. Above all, the event reaffirmed KLE Society’s enduring commitment to advancing healthcare education and serving society with compassion, integrity, and innovation.
