Dr. Prabhakar Kore highlights Basavanna’s contribution to the world during the Basava Jayanti celebrations in Belagavi.

Dr. Prabhakar Kore recently inaugurated the Shiva-Basava Jayanti celebrations at Hanuman Nagar in Belagavi. He currently serves as the National Vice President for the Veerashaiva Lingayat Mahasabha. During his speech, he emphasized how Basavanna’s contribution to the world remains a guiding light. Basavanna fought against caste, class, and gender inequalities nearly 900 years ago. Dr. Kore described the 12th-century saint as a truly great humanist.

The struggle led by Basavanna feels more relevant than ever in modern society. Furthermore, Basavanna established the Anubhav Mantapa as the world’s first socio-spiritual parliament. This unique platform provided equal status to women in social and spiritual discourses. Another vital part of Basavanna’s contribution to the world is the concept of Kayaka. These principles of work and selfless service teach us the true dignity of labor. Dr. Kore also paid tribute to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj for protecting our national integrity. He urged the younger generation to adopt the ideals of these historical icons.

Several prominent dignitaries attended the event to share their insights on social transformation. Belagavi North MLA Raju Sait stated that following such great souls enables community progress. Former minister A.B. Patil remarked that Basavanna’s visionary outlook sparked essential religious reforms. Deputy Mayor Mahantesh Kongali described Basavanna as a “Universal Man” who enlightened everyone.

The stage featured several other notable leaders and scholars from the region. These included Murugesh Dapalapur, Prashant Rampure, and Principal B.S. Gavimath. Corporator Sandeep Jirigehal also graced the occasion with his presence. Additionally, Sarju Katkar, Dr. A.B. Ghatge, and Dr. Mahesh Guranagoudar delivered insightful lectures. The committee honored Shrikanth Virgi and Dr. Prasad Rampure for their exceptional professional achievements. Shrikanth Shanawad moderated the program, and Rajendra Chitagi delivered the final vote of thanks.
