Inauguration of KLE Cancer Hospital at Belagavi
Honourable President of India Smt Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the KLE Dr Sampathkumar Shivanagi Cancer Hospital at Belagavi on 3rd January 2025. This 300 beds hospital at Belagavi has been constructed at a cost of nearly 300 crores . It is equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure and facilities. The facility will provide Cancer cure and Cancer care facilities to people from Karnataka and the neighbouring states of Maharashtra, Goa and Telangana. There has been a significant increase in the incidence of cancer in the region and across India. This hospital will significantly and positively impact the healthcare scenario.
Addressing the audience, Honorable President Madam drew attention to the rising instances of cancer across the country. She stressed the importance of addressing both physical and psychological aspects of cancer cure. Madam President also lauded the positive impact of the Ayushman Bharat Scheme in reducing the time between detection and treatment.
KLE Society Chairman Dr Prabhakar Kore thanked U.S.-based physician Sampatkumar S. Shivanagi and his family for their generous donation of ₹8 crore towards the setting up of the hospital.
Guest of Honour Shri Pralhad Joshi, Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution praised KLE Society for its commitments across healthcare and education. He congratulated Dr Prabhakar Kore and team for setting up the much needed cancer care facility in the region.
