Memorandum requesting release of water for North Karnataka from the Koyna Dam
BJP Delegation led by Shri Pralhad Joshi, MP & Former President Karnataka BJP, M.P. Dr. Prabhaar Kore, met Chief Minister of Karnataka Shri Devendra Fadnavis on 10th March, 2017 at 3 p.m. at his official residence “Varsha” and submitted memorandum requesting to release water to Krishna River from Koyna Dam. The region of North Karnataka along the banks of river Krishna has been reeling under a severe drought over the past two years. The failure of the rains and consequent shortage of water have posed a serious threat to the livelihood of the people who are largely dependent on agriculture and cattle to meet their daily needs.
In this past year, the Honorable Chief Minister had acceded to a similar request and had provided much needed and timely relief to the people in the region. Repeating his noble gesture the Shri Devendra Fadnavis has consented to the release of 2TMC of water from the Koyna Dam from 1st April 2017.
The delegation that submitted the memorandum comprised Shri P C Gaddigoudar, MP, Bagalkot, Shri Lakshman Savadi, MLA, Athani, Shri Raju Kage, MLA, Kagwad, Shri Duryodhana Aihole, MLA, Raibag, Smt. Shashikala Jolle, MLA, Nipani, Shri Mahantesh Kavatgimath, MLC, Shri Suresh Halavankar, MLA, Ichalkaranji and Shri Annasaheb Jolle,BJP.
