Bengaluru, [Insert Date]: The Rotary Red Cross Blood Centre Inauguration took place at KLE Hospital, Peenya Industrial Area, Bengaluru. The centre strengthens voluntary blood donation and improves access to safe blood. Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot ji, Honorable Governor of Karnataka and President of IRCS Karnataka State Branch, inaugurated the facility. Shri Basrur Rajeev Shetty, Chairman, presided. Dr. Prabhakar Kore, Chairman of KLE Society, and Shri Bhaskar Rao, I.P.S. (Retd.), Vice President of IRCS Karnataka State Branch, attended as Chief Guests. Guests of Honor included Rtn. Elizabeth Cherian, Rotary International District Governor – RI Dist. 3192, and Dr. Srinivas S. Hyati, Vice Chairman, IRCS Karnataka State Branch.

The Governor marked the occasion on Seva Diwas. He said the centre reflects the belief that “service is the highest religion.” He praised the Red Cross for disaster relief, Rotary International for global efforts in health, sanitation, education, and polio eradication, and KLE Society for its pioneering role in healthcare and education. Outlining the initiative, he mentioned that KLE Hospital provided infrastructure, Rotary Bangalore Udyog equipped the facility, and the Red Cross will manage operations. Calling the blood bank a “sacred commitment to humanity,” he urged people to make voluntary blood donation in Karnataka a mass movement. He also shared his own experience of donating blood with his son.

KLE’s Commitment to the Voluntary Blood Pool

Dr. Prabhakar Kore stressed the importance of timely and safe blood. He said every voluntary donor saves lives during emergencies, surgeries, and maternal care. He highlighted the Modern Blood Bank at the KLE Hospital Blood Bank in Belagavi. This advanced facility provides component separation services, including red cells, plasma, and platelets. KLE institutions conduct regular blood donation camps and run an active Red Cross Wing. These efforts spread awareness and contribute significantly to a safe blood supply in India.
