Technical Consultation Meeting hosted by JNMC Women’s and Children’s Health Research Unit at New Delhi

Happy to be part of a stimulating and productive Technical Consultation Meeting hosted by JNMC Women’s and Children’s Health Research Unit at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.The meeting discussed three completed Research Projects – RAPIDIRON trial comparing single dose IV Iron to daily oral supplementation for the treatment of moderate pregnancy anemia; ASPIRIN trial of daily low dose Aspirin supplementation for reducing preterm births; A-PLUS trial of single prophylactic intrapartum dose of Azithromycin for reducing maternal and newborn sepsis – and the ongoing PRIORITY Trial of single dose IV Iron compared to daily supplementation for moderate postpartum anemia.Research projects implemented in collaboration with Thomas Jefferson University Philadelphia, RTI International, North Carolina, S N Medical College Bagalkot, BLDEU Medical College Vijayapura, Raichur Institute of Medical Sciences, Model Rural Health Research Unit, Siriwar, SMS Medical College Jaipur with funding support from NICHD Global Network for Women’s and Children’s Health Research, Foundation of NIH, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Childrens Investment Fund.Dr Rajiv Bahl DG-ICMR and Secretary Department of Health Research, Dr Zoya Rizvi Deputy Commissioner Nutrition and Dr Nitin Gangane, Vice Chancellor KAHER and a galaxy of Researchers, representatives of ICMR, FOGSI, NNF, WHO Country Office, USAID, funding agencies and implementation partners were present.
