Awareness program on “Prime Minister’s Crop Insurance Scheme:

On April 6th 2016, Shri Suresh Angadi, LokSabha MP, Belagavi inaugurated the awareness program on “Prime Minister’s Crop Insurance Scheme” which was jointly conducted by KLE Society’s KrishiVigyan Kendra (KVK) Mattikopp and KVK, Tukanatti. He applauded the efforts of the KLE Society in establishing an Agricultural Research Centre in the region in addition to the School of Agriculture & called upon the farming community to partake the benefits of this facility, innovate and add the much needed self-esteem and contentment to their lives. Dr. VishwanathPatil, MLA, Bailhongal called for a synergistic relationship between the farmers, the local authorities.

In my opinion, agriculture is the noblest profession. It is the essence of all life, in India and beyond. With the passing of time the trend has shifted to urban migration and secure government jobs. The progress of the nation lies in the welfare of the farmer. He is the provider and hence the decider of the fate of the nation. I also take great pride in the fact that KLE’s KVK has been instrumental in the implementation of several innovations in agricultural practices. It is also important that the woman folk emerge and join hands to take up the welfare of the farming community at large. With this in mind KVK is also providing training in several support activities like dairy farming for the benefit of the rural folk. The institution has also made provisions for supply of high quality seeds, planting material and nutrients. The KLE’s School of Agriculture is also providing rural folk with educational opportunities in an attempt to modernize and improve agricultural practices.
