Belagavi, June 7, 2026: I had the privilege of inaugurating the Annual CME 2026 on Gastroenterology and Hepatology. IMA Belagavi organized the conference in association with the Department of Gastroenterology, JNMC, KAHER. The event took place at Fairfield by Marriott, Belagavi.

The IMA Belagavi Annual CME 2026 brought together leading specialists, consultants, and academicians from across Karnataka. During the conference, experts deliberated on recent advances in Gastroenterology and Hepatology.

In my inaugural address, I emphasized the importance of continuous learning and ethical medical practice. Furthermore, I highlighted the role of academic excellence in improving patient care.

I deeply value the felicitation accorded to me by IMA Belagavi following the Padma Shri honour. This recognition belongs to the entire KLE family and our dedicated healthcare professionals.

Guest of Honour Dr. Siddhu Hulloli graced the inaugural function. Meanwhile, eminent faculty members from reputed institutions enriched the scientific sessions through their participation.

A major highlight of the conference was the prestigious IMA Oration. Renowned gastroenterologist Dr. Naresh Bhat spoke on “Is Clinical Examination a Dying Art in Present-Day Medicine?” In addition, eminent surgical oncologist Dr. Shailesh Shrikhande delivered the Dr. V. S. Metgud Oration. He shared valuable insights on “Cultivating a Legacy of Excellence.”

The conference also featured a Liver Health Awareness Initiative with FibroScan screening. Through this initiative, the organizers promoted preventive healthcare and early diagnosis of liver diseases.

I congratulate Dr. Hemant Koujalgi and his team for organizing the event successfully. Moreover, I commend Dr. Raghavendra D. Sagar, Dr. Santosh Hajare, Dr. Vikrant Ghatnatti, Dr. Kedareshwara K. S., and Dr. Smita Koujalgi for their dedicated efforts.

Overall, the IMA Belagavi Annual CME 2026 highlighted the importance of continuing medical education. Such initiatives strengthen evidence-based healthcare and ultimately benefit society.
