The need for a Cancer Hospital:

The specialized Cancer hospital is an important part of modern healthcare. India faces a rising burden of cancer. We have over 1.46 million new cases annually, including more than 50,000 childhood cancer diagnoses each year. 3 new cancer cases and 2 cancer deaths are happening every minute. One in every nine individuals has some form of cancer. This is due to tobacco addition, lack of nutrition, lack of hygiene and other issues. The cancer cases are expected to increase by 24% by 2030.It is predicted that we will have a 57% increase by 2040. But, Cancer care is largely confined to the metropolitan cities. This often makes the same unaffordable and inaccessible to those that need it the most.

KLE Cancer Hospital

KLE Society has set up a Modern Cancer Hospital at Belagavi to address the issue. Honourable President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the hospital in Jan 2025.

The facility provides the trilogy of cancer treatments; ie., Surgical oncology, Radiation and Clinical Oncology. It also provides facilities for rehabilitation and palliative care. The Hospital also serves as a learning centre for aspiring oncologists. It also conducts research on commonly prevalent cancer ailments in the region. KLE Cancer Hospital, Belagavi is part of KLE’s endeavour to bring world class healthcare facilities to the doorsteps of people in Tier II cities and nearby villages.
